How To Remove Negative Items From Your Credit Reports

1 June 2008 No Comment

As a DIY working mom, I made up my mind to remove negative items on my own. Initially, I did think of letting the credit repair clinics and attorneys delete negative items off my credit reports. But I had to brush away the idea after facing the fact that I am still $13,942 in credit card debt and credit repair agencies charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars to repair my bad credit.

It’s definitely worth it to pay up to $3,500 for repaired credit but the fact is that there is no guarantee that my credit reports are fully repaired. I was told by some working moms that after paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars, the credit repair clinics didn’t fix all their disputes. Believe it or not? Credit repair clinics have absolutely no incentive to raise your credit score FAST when you’re paying them by the month. In fact, the more time they take on your case, the more money they make.

It’s just not worth it to pay up to $3,500 if the credit experts can’t remove the negative items from my credit reports and raise mt credit scores. I might as well use the amount to pay off my credit card debt first and do the credit repair on my own.

Have you ever been told that You Can Not Remove Negative Items from Your Credit Reports Yourself and You Need a Professional Agency to Do It for You? This is a myth to credit repair that you and I have believed all these years! Attorneys and credit repair clinics would like you to believe the only way to clear your credit is through them. The truth is you can improve your credit better and faster yourself.

It doesn’t matter if you currently have no credit or even very bad credit, you can do the removal on your own. The first thing you need to do is get a FREE copy of your credit report from each Credit Bureau. You are legally able to obtain a FREE credit report every 12 months by calling each Credit Bureau — Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Next, you need to go over every line of your reports and look for the errors. Once you have identified the negative items you need to challenge or deny them. If the items can’t be verified within a reasonable amount of time, they must be removed from the credit reports. The only way you do the removal effectively is to write a letter and dispute the errors. By going through the process of disputing items over and over again, it is possible to delete negative items off your credit reports.

Whenever you get the updated reports carefully review them to see if you have lost the negative items and to see if anything else has changed. You may find while disputing one negative item, for no apparent reason, another negative item or two have disappeared.

The logic is that many creditors won’t have time to deal with a bothersome piece of paperwork to defend the negative items. Eventually you can repair your credit through default by your creditors not responding to the credit bureaus’ requests to verify the items.

You can remove negative items from your credit reports if you will spend time reading correct information related to deleting negative items off credit reports, and 3 little secrets attorneys and credit repair clinics don’t tell, getting correct government forms and going through the process of disputing items over and over again.
